Mandala art can be used as a therapy for everyone at any time. It is a way of expressing what we are thinking, feeling and experiencing. You can use a mandala as a tool on your way of discovery. Mandalas are used in meditation practices and they can help you to concentrate. By concentrating on a mandala you experience a change in consciousness. Mandalas are a reflection of spiritual energy.
Meditation using mandalas can help reduce stress on the outside and relax on the inside. When the mind is empty and absorbed in the meditation then you start creating. You re-enter your surroundings and wake up with conscious thought. You can remove the forgetfulness and fill your mind with the important things about every day and every moment of life. Insight is realized when we pay attention to our body, feelings (emotions) and our mind. Our conscious mind uses words to categorize and define our experiences. The unconscious mind uses images and symbols to give us various perceptions. Our subconscious is affected by color. Instinctively we use color in every area of our life. Intrinsically color is used as a display or used as a concealer. So, to me creating a mandala is conscious dreaming. Studies have shown that you use both sides of your brain when working on a mandala. In our world, one of the oldest sciences is geometry. Geometry is used in creating mandalas as an expression of art. Perhaps the relationship of geometric shapes reflects on how all existence is related. Colors and shapes are also used in creating mandalas. Each one has a different meaning. One example: the circle represents the endless cycle of life and death, of karma action. It has no beginning and no end. The space within the circle is the inner realm. The center point of the circle is the self. An oval is a symbol of birth and renewal while a spiral is the deep spiritual self. As I was creating these mandalas I was so inspired and so full of conscious thought. I could not stop creating, designing over 300. I kept being asked "What are you doing, what are you going to do with all of these?" But every time I would show them to someone they would stop and observe and say "How beautiful!" (Even complete strangers.) So I am sharing my feelings and my emotions with you through my mandalas. Included with each mandala is a brief description and lists of colors and shapes for you to fill in your own ideas. Every mandala means something different to each of us. Please enjoy and remember that life is good and we need to remind ourselves of how blessed we are every hour of every day. Awaken to such a truth and change your life. Only you can do that. |
